Written music sits on a set of five lines called the staff. The curly symbol at the beginning is the treble clef — it’s where the right hand usually reads.
These are C, D, E, F, G on the staff — the same five notes you play in the lessons.
Why it matters
The treble clef tells you which lines and spaces mean which notes. We’ll learn to read them step by step — for now, just know that higher on the staff means higher in pitch.
Tip: Don’t rush reading notation. Many players start by ear and add reading gradually — both are valid paths.
